Milne Bay: Communication
Apart from landlines, satellite phones, mobiles, the local radio station, Radio Milne Bay (AM/FM) sends service messages to people in rural areas daily at certain times. A telephone system that operates on solar exists on the islands for emergencies.
The Government runs a radio that reaches most Government stations and health centres in rural areas and the private sector also has a radio network to promote safety at sea and this reaches most places in the province.
There are a number of internet facilities around town. Check with your hotel for the nearest to you. There is also a Post Office for fast cash transfers within PNG. Messages are also sent with boat and PMV operators who travelling to most areas daily.
